Misplaced Modifiers???
Students in 8th grade language arts with Mrs. Loosli are working on misplaced modifiers. A misplaced modifier is where a portion of the sentence is in the wrong spot and makes the sentence incorrect. These can sometimes be funny, as shown in the sentences the students were asked to work with. Students were asked to illustrate the misplaced modifier in each sentence and then correctly re-write it.

8th Grade Art Students Have Been Very Busy

Rainstick Art Project

rainstick1.jpgThe 8th grade art students recently made rainsticks as part of their sculpture unit in class.  Rainsticks are originally from South America, but are now found and possibly used around the world.  Instead of using cactus, rocks, and beans to create a stick with a rain sound, these art students used cardboard tubes, nails, and popcorn.  Since rainsticks were rainstick2.jpgtraditionally made by common, everyday people, the art students studied the types of images that would have decorated those original rainsticks.  These images or type of art known as folkart were used in a modern way by the art students.
